This project responded to the prompt of designing 12 postcards that illustrate aspects of St. Louis, along with the accompanying packaging and stamp. I drew from my Africana Studies coursework to shape the concept, centering the city’s Black freedom struggles across 400 years of history.
The postcards depict key events in chronological order, with color saturation intensifying over time to reflect the accretion history model—emphasizing how struggles build upon one another and grow in complexity. The packaging symbolizes the tension between Black and white communities in St. Louis: the viewer must physically pull the pieces apart to access the postcards. Together, the design elements convey both the weight of history and the persistence of resistance.
